Mental Health in Overland Park KS
Anxiety can be situational, biological and anticipatory and is characterized by feelings of distress, nervousness, and tension.  There are different categories of anxiety which can be experienced with different levels of intensity.  What you think can lead to what you feel.  Coping skills can be inadequate for dealing with feelings.  Exploring the thoughts that are leading to the feelings and then finding what new thinking and behaviors are helpful to you in reducing, accepting or eliminating the anxiety.

Grief and Loss can be experienced in a variety of different ways.  Death is an obvious form of loss but we can also experience loss of hopes, dreams, relationships, trust, material items, security, pets, employment, health, etc.  Talking about the loss helps as well as honoring the loss and deciding how we want to move beyond the loss.

Do you have feelings of discouragement, hopelessness, loss of self esteem and/or loss of motivation?  These may be symptoms of depression.  Depression can feel like a weight that slows us down or keeps us from moving through life.  Depression can be situational (feeling low or sad from an event(s) occurring in our lives) or biological.  We will explore the source of the depression to determine the next step in addressing the symptoms and finding purpose and meaning in your life again.

Self esteem issues can surface when we have lost sight of our value or worth.  Life can throw us curve balls that we can then inaccurately internalize impacting how we feel about ourselves.  We can collaborate to unveil these inaccuracies and explore what is empowering instead.

Co-dependency can be defined as being either "over-controlling" in relationships or putting everyone else first and struggling to say no.  You may not even know how to say no or when it's OK to say no.  This can lead to feelings of guilt, resentments and poor self care.  Sometimes we don't value ourselves enough to set boundaries with others or know what boundaries should be set.  We can process the changes you want to make and determine the actions that would best work for you to feel empowered again to take care of yourself.

Adjustment issues can occur when we have suddenly and unexpectedly experienced a change in our life that leaves us feeling like we have lost our place in life.  We need support to explore where we are and where we need to go to feel centered again.
